September's StarSigns Virgo and Libra

Virgo is the sixth astrological signin the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Virgo. In westernastrology, the sign is no longer aligned with the constellation as a result ofthe precession of the equinoxes. In astrology, Virgo is considered a"feminine", negative (introvert) sign. It is also considered an earthsign and is one of four mutable signs. Virgo is ruled by the planet Mercury.

Individuals born when the Sun was inthis sign are considered Virgo individuals. Under the tropical zodiac, the Sunis in Virgo roughly from August 23 to September 22. Under the sidereal zodiac,it is currently there roughly from September 17 to October 17.

Virgo is the only zodiac signrepresented by a female.

According to one interpretation, theVirgo constellation depicts Astraea, the virgin daughter of the god Zeus andthe goddess Themis. Astraea was known as the goddess of justice, and wasidentified as this constellation due to the presence of the scales of justice(Libra) nearby, and supposedly ruled the world with her wise ways until mankindbecame so callous that she returned to the skies, disgusted. Virgo is alsoidentified with Persephone, daughter of Demeter (goddess of agriculture andguardian of marriage). Persephone was the goddess of innocence and purity, thenlater on became the Queen of the Underworld, when she was abruptly snatchedaway by Hades.

The astrological symbol of Virgo issaid to represent the arms and torso of the virgin holding a sheaf of wheat.

Many astrologers believe that each ofthe twelve signs have identifiable physical traits. Some think that physically,individuals born under the sign of Virgo tend to have a graceful figure, aroundish head, delicately-shaped lips, large and clear eyes, small,symmetrical, and refined features, a high forehead, long arms and thineyebrows. They are thought to usually be of slightly above average height.

Virgo is widely thought to becompatible with the same element signs, Taurus and Capricorn.

There are many variables thatdetermine compatibility in astrology, such as birth dates, birth months, birthyears, position of a sign within the Sun, the Moon, Stars, etc. The signslisted as compatible with Virgo do not reflect an individual profile orindividual reading as interpreted within astrology, but rather reflect ageneral guideline and reference to compatibility as dictated by variables suchas Qualities and Elements within the Zodiac.

Some may be more difficult than others,but none are impossible.

It is common for Virgos to get alongwith many different signs of the zodiac, yet have only a small circle of truefriends. Often, this may be composed of signs with the same Polarity (Positiveor Negative, i.e. Fire/Air signs or Earth/Water signs, respectively). Certain positivesigns are often compatible with Virgo as well. Gemini shares the same rulingplanet as Virgo, Mercury, and the two signs have a common mental process(though Gemini's tend to be much more detached from their ideas). Sagittariusand Virgo are also a common pair. Jupiter rules Sagittarius, and represents"higher thinking", as opposed to Mercury's "lowerthinking". This creates a common love for knowledge on two differentlevels, and can complement the one another's way of thinking.
